Steve Hines Says to Take Food Seriously
Renew your mind and take food seriously. Realize the healing power of food, embrace it, and receive it. Most people don’t realize they have unnatural food associations until they try to go without them. The first step to overcoming your bondage to food is to identifying the emotional and social connections you have with food.
The second step is a renewal of your mind. Socially, this means a total transformation from society’s normal routine. You will begin to lead a lifestyle of planning so that you’re never stuck in a desperate situation without good food to eat.
A renewal of your mind emotionally will usually equate to realizing that food is not what you should turn to when you need a little comfort. Food is our fuel, not our counselor.
Realize that your social life is not going to end. Yes, you will have to make some changes. But embrace those changes because they are going to be what makes you well. Have fun with your new food lifestyle. Be creative.

Molten Chocolate Bundt Cake

“For my son Tucker’s second birthday party, I made 3 of these Bundt cakes, sliced them into individual servings, spread them on a tray, slathered them with icing, and placed toy dump trucks on top for decoration – a cute and delicious mudslide cake. It was a hit—he ate 3 slices in one night!”
Cake
2 cups natural creamy peanut butter
1 cup honey
1 egg
¼ cup applesauce
½ cup cocoa powder
3 Tbs. butter, melted
2 tsp. vanilla extract
½ tsp. Vanilla Crème or plain liquid stevia (Sweet Leaf brand)
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder (aluminum free)
dash of nutmeg
In a large bowl, mix all ingredients together to form a creamy batter. Butter or oil Bundt pan to prevent sticking. Scoop batter into pan and spread to a smooth, even thickness. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes. Allow cake to cool to room temperature. While cake is cooking and cooling, prepare icing.
Icing
4 Tbs. butter
½ cup honey
– cup cocoa powder
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 Tbs. powdered goat milk (NOT diluted) *NOTE: Skip milk before month 3 on the diet
In a small sauce pan over medium low heat, melt butter. Stir in honey. Add cocoa and powdered goat milk. Mix thoroughly. Allow to cook for 5 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent scorching. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Place in refrigerator for 1 hour to cool and thicken. When cake is cooled, gently release it from the sides of the pan with a butter knife. Place a serving platter on top of bundt pan and quickly flip the combo upside down to get the cake out. Using a spatula, generously ice the cake. Slice and enjoy.
